This resolution can be used for a cathedral, parish or benefice or adapted to suit a variety of denominations. We ask that the essential content is retained and promoted as this forms the basis of SCF's beliefs and is how we are able to offer our awards, when sought.

This motion applies to the structures of the Church of England, as successfully used in the Dioceses of Oxford and Worcester, but can be adapted to suit a variety of contexts.


This policy was formed for flower teams and clergy in Church of England parishes to offer guidance to those seeking to have occasional services such as weddings and funerals in church.
Fr Benji Tyler told Synod that by swapping imported flowers for Easter floral decorations with local flowers, the diocese of Oxford could prevent around twenty-four tonnes of carbon dioxide from the collective carbon footprint, and that floral foam, containing microplastic and formaldehyde, has been found in sea plankton, the primary food source.
